SUMMARY

A Watch Engineer operates on a 4 week on and 2 week off rotating
swing shift and stands watch 12 hours a day for two weeks on day
watch, with a 24 hour break at the end of the two week period, and
then shifting to night watch for two weeks while the Dredge is
operation. Schedules vary when the Dredge is not in operation for
maintenance or in tow. Extensive travel required in this position.
Employee shall be responsible for their own transportation and
housing and will receive a daily subsistence for every day worked.
Employee will receive on the job training for operations,
maintenance and repair of dredging equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following, may
complete other projects and duties as assigned.
Works alongside the Chief Engineer in the operation maintenance and
repair of equipment, engines, pumps
Maintains logs of the dredge equipment by monitoring various
computer devices, meters, gauges, and valves
Performs routine tasks such as adding oil to engines, fueling
engines, hooking up hoses, cleaning up, and assisting with fuel
transfer operations
Communicates clearly and effectively to the Chief Engineer the
correct parts necessary for a repair or ongoing maintenance
Holds watch and delegate responsibilities to oilers
Starts engines , generators and pumps as needed to operate the
dredge
Makes periodic checks and visually inspects equipment such as:
engines, motors, pumps, batteries, gauges and valves
Services engines during routine scheduled maintenance such as
changing lube oil and filters, Taking oil samples, changing
hydraulic filters etc.
Monitors water pressure and fuel pressure and temperatures, cleans
strainers, and changes filters as needed to operate the dredge
Ability to communicate well as part of a small team, and work
cooperatively with other colleagues
Maintains and enforce a clean, organized, and safe working
environment
Efficiently maintain the engine room(s) and able to work safely
under pressure and within time constraints in the event of an
emergency
Maintains standards of safety and comply with Company's Health,
Safety & Environment Management System requirements for self and
others
Responsible for writing/participating in work plans and JSA's for
the safe execution of all work projects
Follows and maintain Company standards of Quality in accordance
with Company Quality System requirements
Ensures compliance with Manson's Code of Ethics and Standards of
Business Conduct.
Maintain a high standard of ethical behavior, encourages ethical
behavior in others, supports ethical decisions and actively seeks
appropriate resolution to potential ethical conflicts.
Responsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an
Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of
employment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises oiler while on watch
Responsible for assuring the skill sets of personnel under their
direction align to the task at hand
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed
below
Must be able to work 8 to 12 hours shifts on all types of dredges
and to travel and work rotating schedules.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Basic Mechanical skills required. Knowledge of electricity and
hydraulics, preferred. USCG Tankerman Endorsement,
dredging/offshore experience and plant machinery/refinery
experience preferred. Basic computer skills preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid Driver's License and acceptable driving
record.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently
exposed to adverse weather conditions. The noise level in the work
environment is moderate to loud. Employee must be able to wear the
personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various
construction work environments (hard hats, personal floatation
devices, safety glasses and safety toe work boots). The employee is
frequently required to use hands and fingers, to grasp, grip,
handle, or feel. The employee is required to stand, walk, use
stairs, ladders, and step stools and reach with hands and arms. The
employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may
occasionally lift up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities
required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color
vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be
able to navigate stairs, ladders and gangways, board, work on and
disembark floating vessels and structures.
Ability to work dredge rotation schedule required. Extensive travel
will be required for this position.
