General Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for all technical aspects on a
project, including technical leadership, solution development, and
advanced design and implementation of real-time software and
hardware systems for training devices.
Essential Job Functions
Generates technical solutions that satisfy system requirements.
Communicates with, and ensures good communication between
engineering disciplines, program management, and other
departments.
Reviews requirements and generates architectural solutions based on
wide knowledge of hardware and software.
Analyzes, designs, and implements real-time software and hardware
systems for aviation aircrew and maintenance training devices.
Schedules daily workload for engineering team and supervises
engineers assigned to their project. Conducts regular status
meetings with engineering and production team members.
Identifies schedule issues regarding schedule conflicts and provide
inputs to the Program Manager. Makes recommendations to improve
schedule and manpower.
Develops a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) when required to
establish a project development structure.
Attends and briefs project status and engineering issues at Systems
Engineering Technical Review (SETR) events and In-Progress Reviews
(IPR) ensuring discrepancies noted by the reviewing authority are
recorded as appropriate Action Items.
Constructively and harmoniously works with the engineering team,
management, and customers to assure budget, timeline, and scope
requirements are met.
Performs testing at customer sites as well as early testing on
pre-release products.
Develops technical proposals and responds to Sources Sought, RFP's,
and RFl's in conjunction with the marketing team, assuring they are
technically accurate and professionally presented.
Develops training level of effort estimates for customers.
Must be capable of safely handling government-furnished equipment
and materials.
Must be available to work a standard weekly schedule with overtime
as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must have a wide range of simulation knowledge in hardware and
software in order to recommend solutions to best fit customer
requirements.
Candidate must be self-motivated.
Excellent writing and presentation skills.
Ability to establish priorities to ensure tasks are accomplished on
schedule.
Respond to tasks and mentorship from the Engineering Manager.
Must be able to obtain a security clearance when required by the
contract.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in an engineering major and five (5) years of
experience in engineering discipline; or
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and seven (7) years of
experience in an engineering discipline; or
HS diploma or equivalent and nine (9) years of experience in
engineering.
Advanced degree in engineering preferred.
