We want your knowledge and expertise!Job Summary and QualificationsThe Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.What you will do in this role:
  • You will perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. You will conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • You will administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • You will assist with placement of artificial airways. You will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • You will monitor patient for therapeutic response. You will notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • You will assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
  • You will respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.
  • You will perform routine and high-risk procedures as prescribed by the Physician and follow appropriate policy in the application of respiratory procedures.
  • You will communicate with physicians on the effectiveness of respiratory care procedures.
  • You will thoroughly explain and answer patient and family questions regarding respiratory care.
  • You will review patients' charts to verify order and check for contradictions of therapy.
  • You will assess patient and provide proper documentation in patient's chart as related to therapy.
  • You will assemble, install, disassemble, assess and maintain equipment according to manufacturer and department policy. -What qualifications you will need:
    • Related degree from accredited school - Associate in Respiratory Therapy or Bachelor Degree in Respiratory Therapy is Required
    • RRT or RCP FL License - Registered Respiratory Therapist or Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Florida, in accordance with law and regulation, is Required
    • 1-3 years of experience is preferred. Hospital setting experience highly desirable.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
    • Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) Provider is required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
    • Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. has provided quality healthcare services since 1969, giving patients access to highly-trained physicians and advanced technology.
